BOOK TEXTURING

Finished book

This is the book model I have made which I'm going to unwrap

Here you could see how I built up my texture using different photo references from the internet  and altering them to fit the look I wanted. To avoid any texturing problem like texture bleeding I left the some texture outside the UV map.

PHOTO MANIPULATION

For photo manipulation I chose to make a sci-fi themed image using a city photo and some sci-fi spaceship concept. The top image is the original photo, before edits. The image below as you could see is where I pasted the spaceship which I cut from another image. I then used layer mask to clean up the edges. Then blurred the edges to make it less sharp. On my final image I
duplicated the spaceship to create a fleet. To make it look more like it is at a longer distance I shrunk the image and lowered the opacity to focus the viewers eyes on the main ship I blurred the back.

TEXTURE DEVELOPMENT

Box Face modelling

My first attempt at modelling a very simple low poly box in Maya came out well as I hoped. Here on the right is a one of the face of the box.
I made this model by first creating a 1 by 1 ploy plane, then extrude the edge inwards to made the inner face then selected the smaller face the extruded down to create indented part.

Box texturing

Here as you could see I unwrapped the face model by snapshot in UV editor. then i exported the TGA file and I`m ready to start texturing in Photoshop

Here you could see I started of with some base colours. I added the different shades in different layers so if I made any mistake I can fix it without losing hours of work.

Here you can see the finished texture of my wooden crate.

After I added the texture to the box face, I duplicated the face to make a box shape which I combined to make a stack of crates.
